OREGON - The Monroe boys golf team, coming off a second-place finish in the Sauk Prairie Invitational, lost a Badger South Conference dual to Oregon by three strokes, 166-169, Tuesday.
Monroe junior Tanner Thompson shot a 3-over-par 36 at the Foxboro Golf Course in Oregon. Monroe senior Matt Miller finished with a 42 and sophomore Nick Baumann carded a 43.
Monroe's Eric Bush rounded out the top four golfers for the Cheesemakers shooting a 45.
"I think there a lot of teams in our conference that are pretty close," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "We were just a little off. If both teams would have putted better we both would have had better scores."
Cheese take 2nd at Lake Wisconsin
Monroe finished second place in the Sauk Prairie Invitational Monday at the Lake Wisconsin Country Club.
Madison Memorial edged the Cheesemakers for the title in the 10-team field by one stroke, 324-325.
Miller shot a 79 to take fourth place and Thompson carded an 80 to take fifth place.
Baumann shot an 81 and Devon Boeck carded an 85.
