Panoske, Cards halt upset bid

ALBANY - J.J. Panoske scored 33 points in the final three quarters to lead Brodhead to a 59-50 win over the Comets Tuesday.

"It was a very good game. We had a nice first quarter and did some things offensively," Albany head coach Derik Doescher said.

Panoske was shut out in the first quarter as the Comets jumped out to a 13-4 lead. By halftime, the difference was cut to just four points with Albany ahead 28-24.

Albany, playing with just six players from its usual seven-man rotation, wore out as the game went on. Brodhead played without injured starting guard Jake Cole.

Boomer Detra scored 18 points to lead the Comets. Tyler Conley had 14 points and Bryce Hulbert added 10. Michael Peterson scored 11 for the Cardinals.

Montello 65, Juda 56

PALMYRA - The Panthers fell victim to Montello's star player, 6-feet, 5-inch senior guard Jake Polk, in the first round of the Palmya-Eagle Tournament. Polk scored a game-high 26 points.

"They have one really good player (Polk). He played very well," Juda head coach Kyle Krueger said.

Juda led 13-11 after the first quarter but trailed 29-24 at the half.

Joey Jordan scored 18 points to lead Juda. Dylan Bauman scored 10 and Brandon Duecker added nine in the loss.

Juda plays Johnson Creek tonight at 7 p.m.
