MONROE - A three game losing streak has manager Jeff Newcomer searching for answers after the Brewers lost to Orfordville 14-0 in a five inning Home Talent League game Thursday, June 20.

"I think our problem lately has been inconsistent pitching Newcomer said. "We can't throw strikes when we need to. It's hard for the infielders to focus because they don't know when we will walk somebody. Walks hurt. It drags the game and the inning on."

Orfordville jumped out to a 5-0 lead off Monroe starting pitcher Kris Rieder in the second inning.

Rieder gave up seven runs on seven hits. The only hit for Monroe came from Drew Geissbuhler.

"I don't think he had anything special," Newcomer said. "He threw it straight. We just flat out haven't been swinging the bat. You have to give him credit. He didn't walk people."

Monroe has five more night league games.

"Hopefully, we can find our rythym and we can get hot and go on a run at the end of the season," Newcomer said.
