OREGON - The Monroe baseball team is looking to break out of an offensive slump after a 13-3 six-inning loss to Oregon Friday.
Monroe (1-12, 0-8 Badger South) left nine runners on base in the loss to the Panthers.
"We had plenty of guys on base," Monroe coach Eric Losenegger said. "We just couldn't come up with the big hit at the right time. It's just coming up with a big hit at key moments."
Two Oregon pitchers limited the Cheesemakers to three hits. Monroe has a combined five hits in its last three games and was shut out twice by Watertown earlier this week.
Oregon's Spencer Buskager pitched five innings to get the win. He gave up two runs on two hits, struck out five and walked six.
Monroe junior Jared Baumgartner went 1-for-1 with one run scored. Junior Dagon Rach hit a solo home run in the third inning. Junior Nick Benkert also went 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Monroe junior Max Lange pitched three innings and gave up seven runs on two hits, struck out seven and walked seven. Oregon's Tyler Damon went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
"It's really just trying to find his rhythm," Losenegger said of Lange who was a pitcher last year for the Cheesemakers. "I think he senses he's the No. 1 (pitcher) and he's almost trying to be too fine."
