MONROE - The Monroe girls soccer team exploded for a half dozen goals and picked up a 6-1 win over Wisconsin Heights Tuesday night.

It's the second straight win for Monroe (2-2-2, 0-2-1 Badger South). Monroe sophomore Kylee Ritschard scored two goals for the second straight game to lead the Cheesemakers' attack.

Ritschard scored her first goal at 12 minutes, 32 seconds on an assist from senior Pam Lehman. She scored her second goal about nine minutes later to give the Cheesemakers a 2-0 lead going into the win. Wisconsin Heights' Taylor Lancaster scored a goal at 27:29 to cut the Cheesemakers' lead to 2-1.

"Kylee has been doing such a good job of pushing her way to the box and scoring goals for us," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "Everyone starts to feel a little more comfortable," O'Neill said about getting a couple of early goals.

Monroe sophomore Abbey Schneider scored an unassisted goal from the 18-yard box at 35:37 and junior Gail LaVoie added a goal to give the Cheesemakers a 4-1 lead.

"It was a beautiful shot," O'Neill said. "It's nice to see them take those long shots. You want them to realize that they can take those shots with the wind behind them and they took advantage of it."

Monroe senior Erin Solawetz scored a goal at 63:43 to push the insurmountable lead to 5-1. Junior Chrissy Marti scored the final goal on an assist from LaVoie at 71:34.

Monroe senior goalkeeper Niamh O'Neill-Culhane had six saves for the Cheesemakers.

"They are playing with confidence, scoring goals and communicating better on the field," O'Neill said. "It's showing in their game."
