Oelke conquers Ironman

Jodie Oelke of Oregon finished the Ironman in Madison Sept. 13 with a time of 13 hours, 8 minutes, 22 seconds.

Oelke is the daughter of Bill and Jackie Hustad of New Glarus and granddaughter of Mary Lou Hustad of New Glarus and Doris Disch of Monticello.

Oelke was cheered on by her husband, Will and her children, Will, 8, Anna, 5, sister Tracey Hustad of Knoxville, Tenn. and mother-in-law Gloria Oelke of Oregon.

Oelke said the bike ride was perfect with no wind and a lot of spectators.

She started the Ironman by swimming 2.4 miles in one hour, 17 minutes.

Oelke rode 112 miles on her bike in six hours, 45 minutes. Then it took her just eight minutes to transition to the marathon. During the marathon, Jake held up his cell phone so her brother, Marc and finace, Mindy could cheer her on. Oelke finished the 26-mile marathon in 4 hours, 46 minutes.
