DODGEVILLE - The Brodhead girls basketball team dug themselves a first-half hole against the No. 1 ranked Dodgeville and a rally came up short as the Dodgers beat the Cardinals 62-51 Saturday.
Dodgeville (12-0), ranked No. 1 in Division 3, outscored the Cardinals 17-8 in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead at the half. With the loss, Brodhead drops to 7-3, 5-1 Rock Valley South.
Dodgeville had four players in double figures led by Kara Crowley, who scored a team-high 15 points.
Brodhead junior Amber Pickel scored a game-high 18 points and junior teammate Kylie Moe had 16 points. Freshman teammate Erin Nyhus added 11 points.
The Dodgers were 17 of 25 from the free throw line compared to 12 of 21 for the Cardinals. The Dodgers made five 3-pointers with two each by Taylor Stanek and Crowley.
Argyle 53, Monticello 35
ARGYLE - Senior Jenna Langimeier scored a team-high 13 points to lead Argyle to a 53-35 win over Monticello Saturday.
With the win, Argyle (6-4, 4-1 Six Rivers East) takes over sole possession of second place in the conference.
The Orioles jumped out to a 14-8 lead on the Ponies in the first quarter. The Orioles extended a seven-point halftime lead by outscoring the Ponies 28-17 in the second half. Argyle sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson scored 12 points and Hannah Saalsaa added 11 points.
Monticello senior Alyssah Kubly scored a game-high 17 points and senior Samantha DeVoe chipped in eight points. With the loss, Monticello drops to 5-5, 2-2.
Parkview 57, Pecatonica 23
ORFORDVILLE - The Pecatonica girls basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start and lost a non-conference game to Parkview 57-23.
Parkview (5-5) raced out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter. Parkview put the game away by outscoring Pecatonica 18-4 in the third quarter.
Pecatonica was led by Brooke Johnson who scored a team-high nine points and senior Emily Scoville who added six points.
With the loss, Pecatonica drops to 0-11, 0-4 Six Rivers East.
