MONROE - The Monroe girls soccer team's historic season took another step as the Cheesemakers had nine players receive Southern Badger All-Conference accolades.

Monroe, who garnered votes as an honorable mention selection in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association state poll, also hosted the first regional game in the program's history.

Monroe junior defender Alyssa Studer was selected first team all-conference and she has been nominated for all-state.

"I really felt that Alyssa was a first team all-conference player without a doubt," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "She's very proficient technically and really makes an enormous contribution."

Monroe senior midfielder Catie Eiserman and sophomore forward Kylee Ritschard received second team all-conference honors.

Monroe had six players selected as honorable mention all-conference including Chelsea Haffele, Abbey Schneider, Erin Solawetz, Abby Hlubek, Pam Lehman and Niamh O'Neill-Culhane.

"To get that many players on the Badger South All-Conference is really a great accomplishment," O'Neill said.

Monroe finished the season 15-6-3 and lost a regional final to McFarland.
