NG-M runs to Mt. Horeb Invite title

MOUNT HOREB - The New Glarus-Monticello boys cross country team won the Mount Horeb Viking Invitat-ional Saturday in dominating fashion.

The Glarner Knights had five of the top 16 runners en route to outdistancing Madison Edgewood 49-92 for the team title.

New Glarus-Monticello sophomore Ryan McCoy finished third with a time of 17 minutes, 22 seconds. Fellow sophomore Alexander Yeiser took seventh (18:01) and Reid Zanoya was 11th (18:18). Junior Wesley Morgan finished 12th (18:21) and Evan Schultz took 16th (18:28).

Pecatonica-Argyle (155) finished sixth and Brodhead-Juda was ninth (200) at the 12-team invite.

Pecatonica-Argyle was led by junior Cameron Colson who finished fourth with a time of 17:50 and senior Chris James took 14th (18:24).

Brodhead-Juda had three of the top 34 runners led by senior Daniel Drewes who took 25th (19:08). Junior Tate Harnack finished 31st (19:18) and senior Kyle Lockhart was 34th (1929).

In the girls race, New Glarus-Monticello finished sixth (154). Madison Edgewood outdistanced Mount Horeb-Barneveld for the title 52-74. New Glarus-Monticello junior LouAnn Judd finished 14th (17:46) and sophomore Madeline Brunner was 27th (18:42) to lead the Knights.

Pecatonica-Argyle junior Kendra Sigg was the top area finisher taking 10th place with a time of 17:32. Emma Marion took 47th (19:42) to help the Vikings to a 10th-place finish as a team.

Brodhead-Juda had three of the top 33 runners and took eighth. Brodhead-Juda senior Shannon Klein finished 29th with a time of 18:45. Brodhead-Juda freshman Meg Duffield took 30th (18:47) and freshman Camilla Klar was 33rd (18:51).
