NG boys down Ponies 74-50 in first game

MONTICELLO - The New Glarus boys basketball team had three players reach double figures to cruise to a 74-50 win over Monticello in the season opener Saturday.

New Glarus freshman Zach Feller scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Glarner Knights. New Glarus freshman Jaden Kreklow scored 12 points and senior Gavin Binger added 11 points. Sophomore teammate Cullen Brooks chipped in nine points and senior Trey Taylor had eight points.

Monticello senior Logan Marty scored a team-high 14 points to lead the Ponies. Sophomore teammate John Errthum added 13 points. The Knights had success at the free throw line, shooting 70.8 percent (17 of 24) compared to the Ponies, who finished 60.6 percent (20 of 33).

With the loss, Monticello drops to 0-2.
