NEW GLARUS - Vanessa Narveson knocked down five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points to lead the New Glarus girls basketball team to a 67-47 win over Cambridge on Friday.

Narveson hit two 3-pointers early on and helped the Glarner Knights (15-4, 6-2 Capitol South) jump out to a 40-24 lead at the half.

"She (Narveson) really came out and set the tone in the first half," New Glarus coach Kim Burton said.

New Glarus' Julia Barnaby added 16 points, and Tamara Elzen chipped in 12 points.

"I thought Julia Barnaby did a really good job on their post player Elyssa Stein," Burton said.

New Glarus is two games behind conference-leader Marshall (8-0) with two conference games left. Burton isn't worried about Marshall losing so the Knights can stay alive for a share of a conference title.

"I'm not going to get too caught up in that," she said. "We are focused on one game at a time."

Burton did credit her two seniors, Narveson and Elzen.

"I have been extremely proud of my two seniors," she said. "They have showed good leadership all year long. The team has done a nice job of following their lead and work ethic."
