MONROE - The fact that Monroe High School doesn't offer a boys swim team hasn't tarnished Collin Morgan's passion for swimming.
Morgan, 14 set three of the four meet records.
In a record breaking day, the Monroe Area Swim Team swam their way to the overall team title at the 32nd Dr. Stiles Invitational on Saturday at the Recreation Park pool.
Morgan won three individual titles in the 13-14 boys division including the 50-meter freestyle (:27.53), 100 freestyle (1 minute, 1.04 seconds) and the 50-meter butterfly (:30.54), which all broke meet records. Michyl Wilde finished as the runner-up to Morgan in the 50 freestyle (:29.70) and 100 freestyle (1:11.60).
Morgan, who as a freshman will attend McFarland High School in the fall, wanted the chance to swim at the high school level.
"I always wanted to swim for a nice high school and Monroe doesn't have a (boys) swim team. "I could never swim here."
He said his favorite stroke is the 50 freestyle because of the intense feeling of going fast and all-out.
"It's just a burst of energy," Morgan said. Bill Morgan, Collin's father, said his son at first was planning to open enroll to McFarland. Since the Spartans have two swimming practices a day, which would require Collin to get up at 4:30 a.m. and get home at 9 p.m., Bill Morgan said, the family has decided to move to McFarland.
"It took about 18 months to come to that decision," Bill Morgan said. "It's just a shame they (Monroe) don't have a high school team. We wanted to give him every opportunity."
MAST coach Jessica Wells, friends and other swimmers are in Collin's corner. "His swimming talent is due to natural ability," Wells said.
Morgan also puts in extra training to get better including a two-week University of Wisconsin swimming camp.
"It's sad they have to move and go to another school for that opportunity," Wells said. "He needs to be pushed more. He will go there and get better competition. Everyone who knows Collin is happy for him."
Monroe won the boys 13-14 division of the 200 freestyle relay with a team of Spencer Keith, Trent Einbeck, Grant Keith and Wilde with a time of 2:26.03.
The 200 medley relay team of Conner White, Spencer Keith, Wilde and Grant Keith finished second with a time of 3:01.12.
In the 11-12 competition, Grant Keith won the 100 freestyle (1;21.38) and the 50 butterfly (:43.62). Grant Keith beat out Sugar River's Tyler Molencamp for the title in the 100 freestyle by about 13 seconds.

The boys 10 and under 200 medley relay team of Liam Morgan, Joel Faith, Mitch Keith and Niven Tomasiewicz finished second with a time of 4:04.32.
