Monticello tops Dodgers; Edgerton ousts Cardinals

MONTICELLO - The Ponies used a 15-3 run to snap a 17-17 tie late in the first half as they rolled past the Dodgers, 52-41, in non-conference boys basketball Thursday.

Monti-cello got 13 points from senior Jacob Marty and 10 points each from junior Tyler Ritschard and senior Tyler Meier.

Monticello (12-2, 6-0 Six Rivers East) travels to Highland tonight to face the Cardinals in the Six Rivers Challenge.

Edgerton 57, Brodhead 40

EDGERTON - The Cardinals made just seven field goals in a foul-filled 57-40 loss to Edgerton in Rock Valley Conference action Thursday.

Fifty-four fouls were called in the game with the Cardinals scoring 25 of their 40 points at the free throw line and tallying only six points combined in the first and third quarters.

Junior Nick Jacobson led Brodhead with nine points and sophomore Donnie Nieman added seven points.

Brodhead (8-7, 5-5 Rock Valley South) will host Jefferson Tuesday.
