Monticello, Argyle add wins in girls basketball

PLATTEVILLE - Monticello senior Samantha DeVoe scored a game-high 14 points and the Ponies used a big third quarter to roll to a 49-27 win over Albany Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Monticello (7-6, 4-2 Six Rivers East) led by just four points at the half. The Ponies went on an 18-4 run in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Monticello senior Courtney Leuzinger scored 12 points and senior Alyssah Kubly added 11 points to lead a balanced offensive attack.

The Ponies outscored the Comets 28-10 in the second half. Albany's Lyndsay Hoesly scored a team-high eight points and teammate Marley Malkow added six points. With the loss, Albany drops to 3-11, 2-4.



Argyle 64, Juda 38

PLATTEVILLE - Argyle's Josie Thoman and Jenna Langmeier combined to score 31 points to lead Argyle to a 64-38 win over Juda Saturday.

Thoman scored a game-high 16 points and Langmeier had 15 points. Argyle (7-5, 5-1 Six Rivers East) raced out to a 27-4 lead in the first quarter. The Orioles' lead was extended to 29 points at the half. The Orioles made 15 of 22 free throws compared to 12 of 20 for the Panthers.

Juda sophomore Chelsea Burkhalter scored a team-high 13 points. Senior Cheyenne Ambler and sophomore Sara Jordan each chipped in five points for the Panthers. With the loss, Juda drops to 5-7, 1-4.
