MILTON - Senior Isaac Allen rushed for 106 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Monroe High School football team to a 42-18 win over Milton Friday night.

With the win, Monroe (5-0, 3-0 Badger South) becomes playoff eligible for the first time since 2012.

"This is my first time getting to the playoffs in Monroe," first-year Monroe coach Toby Golembiewski said. "It's pretty cool. I don't think it has sunk in yet."

Monroe is at the top in the hunt for a Badger South Conference championship. Of course, Golembiewski understands some things could change between now and the end of the season.

"There is a lot that can happen between now and then," he said. "We have to go out one game at a time and take care of business. We have to keep our nose to the grindstone."

Each one of the Cheesemakers' running backs eclipsed 100 yards against Milton, and Monroe racked up 370 total rushing yards. Monroe senior Cole Murray rushed for a team-high 112 yards on nine carries and scored one touchdown. Senior Jacob Kind rushed for 109 yards on 11 carries and scored one touchdown.

"It was a balanced attack," Golembiewski said. "Every kid had to step up when they had the opportunity. When their number was called they answered the bell."

About midway through the first quarter, Milton senior quarterback Isaac Phillips hooked up with Mark Bowditch for a 34-yard TD pass to give the Red Hawks a 6-0 lead.

"This was a team with some athletic kids who were athletes on the co-conference championship team last year," Golembiewski said.

It didn't take the Cheesemakers long to answer when Allen rammed in for a 2-yard TD run early in the second quarter to give the Cheesemakers a 7-6 lead. Allen then scored on a 1-yard run midway through the second quarter to give the Cheesemakers a 14-6 lead.

After the Red Hawks cut the Cheesemakers' lead to two points on Kameron Van Natta's 2-yard TD run late in the second quarter, the Cheesemakers responded with a 70-yard drive in about a minute, capped by Allen's 9-yard TD run with 38 seconds to go take a 21-12 lead into halftime.

Murray had a 29-yard TD run in the third quarter, and Kind put the Red Hawks away with an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Kind added a 12-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for the Cheesemakers.

Monroe senior quarterback Tyler Elmer completed 3 of 6 passes for 32 yards. Elmer added 42 rushing yards on 10 carries.
