MONROE - The U-13 girls Mystics soccer team tied Madison East Velocity 1-1 in the season opener on Saturday.
It was a very evenly matched well fought game with goal attempts the first half made by Brynn Ritshcards, Dani Larraga, Rachel Meier, Emily Benzscawel and Olivia Werth. Goalie Anna Latimer had one save on a penalty kick the first half. The first and only goal of the game was scored by Werth followed by Madison's goal towards the end of the first half.
In the econd half, Latimer also had one save as goalkeeper. Shots on goal were made by Ritshcards, Werth, Benzscawel, Meier and Heather Burkhalter. Great defense by Kennedy Ludwig, Samantha Ellefson, and Ally Einbeck kept the Velocity scoreless the second half.
