MONROE - Junior No. 1 golfer Nick Baumann shot a 1-over-par 35 for medalist honors to propel the Monroe High School boys golf team to a six-shot win over Oregon on Friday 149-155 at the Monroe Country Club.

"He's capable of shooting those low scores," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said of Baumann. "It's more surprising he shot worse earlier in the season than he is now. He's finally shooting where he should be."

Monroe improves to 2-4 in the Badger South.

Monroe junior Devon Boeck carded a 37 and freshman Jack Rogerson shot a 38. Senior Tanner Thompson shot a 39.

"I was happy with our play finally," Rindy said. "We were hoping our play would come together at the same time and it did. We are excited to show what we can do. The last couple of years we haven't played up to our potential in the conference."

Monroe will play in the Madison Memorial Invitational on Tuesday and the Badger Conference tournament Wednesday.

"We want to do well at conference, but the second season is what we are getting ready for now," Rindy said of the regional and sectional tournaments. "That is our go-time."
