Monroe tops Orangeville; Ramos tosses no-hitter

MONROE - Monroe's Optimists No. 1 topped Orangeville 2-1 on Sunday in a Monroe Area Fastpitch Red League game.

Kelsey Erickson opened the sixth inning a triple to left center and Kendra Clark followed with a double to left to break a 1-1 tie.

Sarah Kloepping singled to lead off the fourth and scored later in the inning for Monroe's first run. Pitcher Kristin McArdle allowed just three hits and struck out 12.

Monroe Alumni 9, Lena 1

Jami Jaeggi, Renee Schuttler, Sydnee Wyss and Stephanie Hoover all had multiple hits as Monroe's Alumni team improved to 2-0 on the season.

Schuttler struck out eight batters, picking up the complete game win.

In other Red League action, Brodhead defeated Stockton 6-5 after scoring all six runs in the final two innings.

White League

Juda's Amber Ramos tossed a no hitter to pick up a big 4-1 win over Monroe Optimists No. 2. Monroe's Erica Hegi struck out six batters in the loss.

Argyle's Kelsey Rients struck out 11 in a 5-1 win over Brodhead.

Pecatonica scored seven runs in the last two innings to break open what had been a close game, defeating Albany 11-2.
