Monroe Squirts dominate Janesville

Saturday the Monroe Youth Hockey Squirt team hosted and defeated the Janesville J-Hawks 5-2.

The story of the game was Monroe's smothering team defense which held the J-Hawks to nine shots on goal.

Monroe fell behind 1-0 after the first period. Cade Janecke open the second period with Monroe's first goal after receiving an assist from Riley Jones. Moments later Joe Wyss knocked home a pass from Jamaar Manor to give Monroe the lead for good.Emma Ness added two goals and Manor one as the Avalanche outshoot Janesville 39-9.

Other players recording assists were Cammi Ganshert, Jared Cline and Wyss.

The Squirts host Stoughton on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and the Madison Polar Caps on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
