Monroe softball pounds Evansville

MONROE - The Monroe Optimists struck for three runs in the first and fourth innings on their way to a 6-1 win over Evansville on Sunday, June 23.

Natalie Dillon and Kady Jordan combined to allow one run on one hit, while striking out 15. Kirsten Vetterli collected two hits and had two RBIs to lead the Monroe offense. Kylea Ambrose and Brooke Adams each scored a pair of runs to lead the offense.

In other games, Orangeville defeated Warren 6-0, Monticello edged Orfordville 4-3, Lena defeated Pecatonica 13-2, Belleville beat Brodhead 12-8, and Argyle slipped by Juda 4-2.

Monroe (1-1-1) will play Juda at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, June 30. The other matchups Sunday include Monticello against Brodhead at 4:15 p.m., Pecatonica against Warren at 6 p.m. and Argyle against Evansville at 7:45 p.m.
