CROSS PLAINS - The Monroe Brewers lost in extra innings Thursday in the Home Talent Night League playoffs 5-1 to Cross Plains.
Tied 1-1 after seven innings, the Brewers went scoreless in three extra innings. Then, with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning and a 3-2 count, Cross Plain's Tyler Fuhrman hit a walk-off grand slam.
Ben Korth pitched all 10 innings for Monroe, striking out eight.
Mitch Marty, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles for Monroe, walked in the top of the sixth and scored on a Rooney Janecke double to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead. Lon Scheuerell also had two hits for Monroe (7-4).
In the bottom of the sixth, Cross Plains scored an unearned run off of an error to tie the score.
