MADISON - The Cheesemakers took an early lead and ran with it on their way to a 60-40 win over Madison Edgewood.
Monroe sprung to an 11-8 lead after the first quarter, and 27-17 at halftime.
"Edgewood ended up cutting the lead to 31-29 with about two minutes left in the third quarter, but from there we outscored them 29-11," Cheesemakers head coach Kevin Keen said.
Jamie Armstrong led all scorers with 23 points, including shooting 8-of-9 from the free throw line and a back-breaking 3-pointer in the second half.
"(Edgewood) was working hard on Ashley Hermanson (9 points), and that opened things up for Jamie," Keen said.
Monroe hit four 3-pointers in the game and shot 16-of-22 from the charity stripe.
Emily Rufenacht joined Armstrong in double-digits with 10 points. Kyleigh Sellnow had 9, Gwen Sutter scored 7, and Kylee Ritschard add 2 for the Cheesemakers (5-0, 4-0).
