MONROE - After winning a gold medal in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the WIAA Division 2 state track meet, Monroe's Jordan Hirsbrunner was one of six Cheesemaker runners to be named all-area.

Hirsbrunner, who just completed her junior year, was named first-team all-area in the 300 hurdles and came within 0.31 seconds of setting a Division 2 state record, beating record-holder and two-time state champion Mikaela Grant of Jefferson. Hirsbrunner finished the 300 hurdles in 43.94 seconds, which was the top time in the state all season.

Hirsbrunner also captured a Badger South Conference title in the 300 hurdles (45.42). Hirsbrunner was named second-team all-area in the high jump.

Three of the Cheesemakers' relays, including the 400, 800 and 1,600 relays, were named honorable mention all-area.

"This is more prestigious than all-conference, as it compares all events from all divisions in southern Wisconsin," Monroe girls track coach Matt Davis said. "It is a prestigious award."

Monroe's 400 relay team of Josie Eberle, Isabel Bazley, Abby Oudinot and Cammi Ganshert earned the honor in the 400 relay. The 800 relay team that earned the accolade included Bazley, Oudinot, Ganshert and Hirsbrunner. The Cheesemakers' 1,600 relay team that earned the honor included Bazley, Mya Waterman, Ganshert and Hirsbrunner.

Sugar River's Noelle Marie was named second-team all-area in the 3,200 and honorable mention in the 1,600. Pecatonica-Argyle's Josie Penniston was named honorable mention in the 200 and 400.

Sugar River's Krista Diaz received honorable mention in the 100 hurdles, as did the Raiders' 400 relay team.
