Monroe rallies past Wiota

WIOTA - The Monroe Brewers knocked off Wiota 7-3 in a Home Talent League game Thursday.

Mitchell Kauk went 3-for-3 and Mitch Marty was 3-for-4 to lead Monroe. Wiota scored three runs in the first inning off Kauk. Kauk pitched four innings and gave up three runs on five hits. He struck out four and walked two. Monroe's Kramer Henning pitched two shutout innings to get the win. He struck out one and walked two.

The Brewers scored five runs in the sixth inning off of Wiota's Taylor Wiegel. Wiegel hit a batter and Monroe's Seth Dascher singled. After Wiegel walked a batter, Adam Krebs reached on an error. Kauk had an RBI single and Marty had a single and two runs scored on the play after the ball got away from an outfielder. Henning also delivered an RBI single.

"It was a sloppy inning for us," Wiota co-manager Dick Schliem said.

Wiegel pitched a complete game and gave up seven runs on 10 hits and struck out six. With the loss, Wiota dropped to 1-3 in the night league.
