MONROE - Rooney Janecke had an interesting afternoon for Monroe in a Home Talent League baseball game Sunday.
"I went from goat to hero in two innings," Janecke said.
Janecke committed an error that helped Blanchardville take the lead in the eighth, but he made up for it by scoring the winning run in the 10th inning and earning the pitching victory as Monroe posted a 5-4 triumph to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Blanchardville (0-6) scored three runs in the eighth, the first two on a throwing error by Janecke, who was at third base, and the third on Eric Strahl's RBI single to take a 4-2 lead.
But Monroe scored single runs in the eighth on Drew Geissbuhler's ground out, in the ninth on a throwing error and in the 10th, when Janecke led off with a double and moved to third on singles by Lon Scheuerell and Scott White. Janecke scored the game-winner on a wild pitch.
Mitch Marty started for Monroe and went 7 1/3 innings. He had five strikeouts.
Janecke went the final 2 2/3 innings, recording six strikeouts.
Trevor Theobald went 3-for-5 with an RBI to lead Blanchardville while Marty and Adam Scherer each added doubles for Monroe.
