BLANCHARDVILLE - The Monroe Brewers are battling for the No. 4 seed in the Home Talent League Sunday playoffs.
The Brewers (8-7) helped their own cause with a 12-1 win over Blanchardville Friday night.
Monroe pounded out 14 hits and scored three runs in the sixth inning and five in the seventh to put the Bullets away. Blanchardville's Mike Cleary pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs. He struck out three, walked three and hit three.
Brewers co-player manager Lon Scheuerell went 3 for 4 with five RBIS. Scott White went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, Shaun Dasher went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and Brewers co-player manager Rooney Janecke was 2 for 3.
"We are fighting for that fourth position so we can get a home playoff game," Scheuerell said. "We have been swinging the bats well lately. We just kept it going tonight. We have all of our team the last month or so and that has helped with consistency."
Brewers pitcher Cody Boals tossed six innings and gave up just one unearned run on two hits. Ben Korth pitched a shutout seventh for Monroe.
Monroe closes out the regular season Sunday, July 31 at Wiota.
