FORT ATKINSON - The Monroe-New Glarus girls swimming team set eight personal records and turned in four first-place finishes in a dual meet against Fort Atkinson Tuesday.

"The girls are fighting flu and colds, but they still came out of this meet with 25 points more than they scored last year with three fewer varsity swimmers," Monroe-New Glarus coach Linda Moser said. "This team continues to push forward."
New Glarus freshman Maddie Hammer won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 23.62 seconds and she won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.94). Both times were PRs for Hammer.
New Glarus junior Anna Wolf won the 100 butterfly with a PR of 1:05.94 and she took second place in the 200 freestyle with a PR of 2:13.43.
The other first-place finish for the Cheesemakers was the 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Abby Oudinot, Skylar Lassen, Anna Meritt and Wolf with a time of 4:09.10.
Other swimmers who set a PR include MacKenzie Hesgard in the 100 butterfly (1:22.33) and the 100 breaststroke (1:27.44); Reagan Andersen in the 200 IM (2:37.33) and 100 backstroke (1:16.47); Mary Kelly in the 100 freestyle (1:07.92); Grace Moehn in the 50 freestyle (28.91) and Monica Sefcik in the 500 freestyle (6:30.90).
