MONROE - With the success of the Monroe High School football team comes a slew of postseason accolades. There were 16 Monroe players who received some form of Badger South All-Conference recognition recently.
Monroe senior Dylan Beaver was named first-team all-conference at offensive guard and at defensive end. Beaver also was named the Badger South Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year.
The six other first-team all-conference positions for the Cheesemakers include senior center Hayden Arneson, senior running back Isaac Allen, senior running back Jacob Kind and junior linebacker Travis Wolf. Allen was also named first-team all-conference as an edge defensive player.
Monroe finished the season with an 11-1 record. Its only loss was to Pewaukee 7-3 in a WIAA Division 3 state quarterfinal game. The Cheesemakers won the Badger South Conference title for the first time in 18 years and had their first unbeaten regular season since 1995.
Monroe senior Timmy Thoman was named second-team all-conference at offensive tackle and junior Joe Hughes was second-team at offensive guard. Junior Dempzy Foley was a second-team selection at kicker.
On defense, senior Carter Sawdey and junior Brayden Zettle were both named second-team all-conference at defensive back. Arneson received second-team honors as an edge player on defense.
Monroe senior Tyler Elmer was named honorable mention all-conference at quarterback and as a punter. The other honorable mention all-conference honors went to senior Cole Murray (running back), senior Kendall Paulson (linebacker), senior Alex Tordoff (defensive back) and junior Sam Kind (defensive back).
