MONROE - The Monroe girls basketball team will play a familiar opponent in the first-round of the WIAA Division 2 regional tournament Tuesday, March 4.
Monroe received a No. 5 regional seed in the Janesville Craig sectional and will play at No. 4 seed Mount Horeb March 4. The Cheesemakers beat Mount Horeb 47-33 last year in the first-round of the regional.
Monona Grove (18-1) received the No. 1 seed in the five-team regional grouping and receives a bye in the first-round. The other game will pit No. 3 Oregon at No. 2 Stoughton.
"The seeding went as I expected it to go," Monroe coach Sam Mathiason said. "If we would have beat Milton and Reedsburg, I think we would have had a case for the No. 4. It will be a great challenge for us."
The other regional games scheduled for March 4 are as follows:

Brodhead received a No. 1 seed and will have a first-round bye. The Cardinals will play the winner of Edgerton and Beloit Turner Friday, March 7.
