FORT ATKINSON - The Monroe High School girls track and field team had three individual conference champions and three relay champions en route to placing second in the Badger South Conference meet on Tuesday.

Stoughton edged the Cheesemakers for the conference title 154.5-142. Oregon placed third (139). It's the highest finish for Monroe in the conference since 2010.

"This was a meet with some great competition," Monroe girls track coach Matt Davis said. "For us to take second is really good. We were one of the underdogs in this fight. Stoughton and Oregon are both Division 1 schools and we held our own."

Monroe junior Jordan Hirsbrunner had a big night, playing a hand in winning three conference titles. Hirsbrunner won a conference championship in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.42 seconds. She also won a conference title in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 3 inches. Hirsbrunner teamed with senior Isabel Bazley, sophomore Mya Waterman and freshman Cammi Ganshert to win the 1,600 relay with a time of 4 minutes, 4.10 seconds, which is the relay team's fastest time this season.

"She (Hirsbrunner) is one of the cornerstone performers for our team," Davis said. "I'm proud of her. If they (1,600 relay) keep running like that they are going to break the school record."

Hirsbrunner also placed second in the 100 hurdles (15.85).

Sophomore Josie Eberle won the pole vault (8-6).

The Cheesemakers' 3,200 relay team of Allyce Fahrney, sophomore Rachel Meier, sophomore Sydney Mathiason and Waterman won the conference title in a season-best time of 10:06.56.

"They set the tone for the meet," Davis said. "They exceeded all of my expectations."

Bazley and Eberle teamed with senior Abby Oudinot and Ganshert to run to a conference championship in the 400 relay (50.68). Ganshert added a second-place finish in the 100 (12.89).

"That has been one of our go-to relays all season and they didn't disappoint," Davis said.

Monroe junior Alicia Kuester and Oudinot tied for second in the triple jump (33-4).

The Monroe boys track team placed fifth with 68 points in the seven-team meet. Oregon ran away with the conference title 166.5-132 over Monona Grove.

Monroe sophomore Dylan Scace won the 3,200 (10:06.21). Scace teamed with Drake Ingold, Dominick Curtiss and Jonah Tostrud to win a conference championship in the 3,200 relay (8:13.76).

Senior Mitch Keith finished second in the pole vault (12-6).
