REEDSBURG - Senior Maddie Kallgren scored two goals to propel the Monroe High School girls soccer team to a 2-1 nonconference win over Reedsburg on Thursday.

Monroe (5-0) got on the scoreboard with Kallgren's first goal coming off an assist from sophomore Morgan Seffrood at 2 minutes, 20 seconds.

Reedsburg tied the game with a goal in the 55th minute.

Kallgren scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick at 63:30.

"It was a great win," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "I think we had some sore legs after a tough few games."

Monroe will open up the Badger Conference part of their season Saturday at Milton. The Cheesemakers went 2-4 and finished in sixth place in the Badger last season.

"One of our goals is to be more competitive and win more conference games," O'Neill said. "If they play like we did against Lodi (in a 1-0 victory Tuesday) and tonight, I think it will be a very good match."
