DEFOREST - The Monroe girls soccer team split two games at a tournament in DeForest Saturday.
Monroe (5-3-1, 1-1 Badger South) opened up the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Platteville.
Monroe junior Kylee Ritschard scored five goals in the tournament including four in a 5-3 win over Oshkosh North.
The Hillmen scored their first goal on a penalty kick.
"That was a tough one," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "We would have evened up that game."
In the Cheesemakers' game against Platteville, Monroe junior Briana Beck scored a goal on freshman Leeza Foley's assist at 18 minutes, 48 seconds. Ritschard scored the Cheesemakers' second goal on Foley's second assist.
Monroe senior Gail LaVoie had eight saves against the Hillmen.
The Cheesemakers started fast against Oshkosh North as Ritschard scored three goals in the first 35 minutes to give the Monroe a 3-0 lead.
"Kylee really turned it on for that game," O'Neill said. We really got to play everybody. It was nice to give everyone a chance to play and rest some of the legs we need to rest for this week."
Ritschard's first goal came on a pass from senior Tessa Brown. Then, she scored two unassisted goals. Foley added a goal at 51:50 and Ritschard capped the scoring with the final goal at 65:21.
LaVoie had 12 saves against Oshkosh North. Monroe will host Fort Atkinson at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Honey Creek Park.
