MILTON - The Monroe boys hockey co-op pulled its goalie late and almost pulled off an improbable comeback in a 5-3 loss to Milton on Monday.

The Avalanche's Daniel Guilliams of Freeport Aquin scored a power-play goal on assists from senior Tyler Johnson and freshman Darien Hargrove of Monroe at the 10-minute, 38-second mark in the first period.

Monroe drops to 0-10 overall and 0-5 Badger South.

Johnson scored a goal on an assist by Guillams at 10:34 in the second period to tie the game at 2.

Monroe freshman goalie Heath Bear had 37 saves. The shots on goal were about even with the Red Hawks at 38 and the Avalanche with 36.

Monroe will host Monona Grove at 7 p.m. Saturday.
