Monroe boys 4th at Borg Invitational

DELAVAN - The Monroe High School boys track team showed strength in the long-distance races en route to a fourth-place finish at the 52nd annual Borg Invitational on Friday.

Westosha Central captured the title at the eight-team meet by edging Wilmot Union 141-138. Lakeside Lutheran finished third (133), just ahead of the Cheesemakers (125).

Monroe junior Jonah Tostrud won the 600-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 30.24 seconds. Senior Josh Smith won the 800 (2:07.92). Junior Dylan Scace won the 1,000 (2:43.65).

Tostrud and Smith teamed with freshman Dylan Fahrney and junior Jason Koller to win the 3,200 relay (8:35.93).

Senior Parker Ingold took second in the 1,600 (4:52.23), and sophomore Kyle Legler finished second in the 3,200 (10:25.26).

Senior Andrew Johnson placed second in the pole vault (10-0). Junior Scott Parr added a second-place finish in the discus (112-6).

Monroe sophomore Jordan Montgomery took third in the 100 (11.65).

The Cheesemakers' 400 relay team of junior Jevon Gibson, sophomore Ethan Kleckler, senior Kendall Paulson and senior Luis Aragon took third (47.05). The Cheesemakers' 1,600 relay team of juniors Koller, Scace, Jake Meier and Fahrney finished third (3:48.99).
