FREEPORT - Ryan Stoneback, a senior from Monroe High School, has committed to the Highland Community College bowling program for the 2016-2017 season that begins in September 2016.
Stoneback will sign the National Letter of Intent at 3:45 p.m. today in the gym at Monroe High School. The event is open to the public.
Highland coach Gail Myers Jr. is excited about the opportunity to bring talented freshmen to his team that will make it better as a whole, while he strives to build a team that will compete for a national championship.
The Highland men's bowling team, while only in its fourth year of competition, has earn three consecutive berths into the Intercollegiate National Championships. Highland was consistently rated in the top 64 in the nation, among all the large universities and bowling powerhouses throughout the United States. The top 64 teams in the nation are seeded into the USBC Intercollegiate Championships with the top four teams from sectionals advancing to the national championships. Highland has advanced to sectionals the past three years. It also finished fourth in the nation at the NJCAA Nationals in Buffalo, New York, in February.
