STOUGHTON - Since the season began in mid-August, the Monroe Cheesemakers haven't had an entire week off between matches until Thursday. Monroe responded to the time off between matches by sweeping both the singles and doubles in a 7-0 win over the Stoughton Vikings in a Badger Conference match.
No. 1 singles player, senior Kristin McArdle, topped Stoughton's Amanda Ramos, 6-1, 6-1 and No. 2 singles player, junior Ellie Shuda, rolled past Niki Hall of Stoughton, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 3 singles, Lily Priewe defeated Shannon Grady of Stoughton, 6-1, 6-1 while at No. 4 singles, Alyssa Quinn was victorious over the Vikings' Hannah Read, 6-0, 6-0.
The Cheesemakers' doubles teams worked hard to prevail over Stoughton, but still came away with a sweep. The No. 1 doubles team of senior Kelsey Erickson and junior Brooke McBain defeated Stoughton's Katie Evans and Catherine Ulrich, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.
The No. 2 doubles team of Becca Flannery and Rachel Thompson endured a lengthy 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) win over the Vikings' Monica Roloff and Magen Krage.
At No. 3 doubles, Monroe's Elisabeth Brunner and Ellie Grossen claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jenny Fossum and Maggie Hentrich of Stoughton.
Monroe will compete in the Elkhorn Quadrangular on Saturday before their next Badger Conference match Tuesday at home against Oregon.
