MADISON - Monona Grove had three players notch hat tricks en route to skating to an 18-0 win over the Monroe boys hockey co-op Friday at the Hartmeyer Ice Arena in Madison.

Monona Grove's Matthew Dutcher, Alec West and Jordan Gerothanas each scored three goals to power the Silver Eagles to the victory. With the loss, Monroe drops to 1-14, 0-6 Badger South. Monona Grove's Tyler Patton had a game-high seven assists. Gerothanas added four assists and Dutcher had three assists.

"It was a tough game and we just couldn't get any momentum," Monroe coach Josh Smith said. "Monona Grove was very good at exploiting our little mistakes and beating us to the puck."

Avalanche sophomore goaltender Dan Guilliams had 35 saves. The Silver Eagles outshot the Avalanche 53-13.

Monroe will host McFarland Tuesday.

"Hopefully, we can turn things around," Smith said.
