MONROE - Brodhead's Carly Mohns and Black Hawk's Jen Wellnitz were recently named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State teams.
Mohns, a junior who averaged 14.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, was named to the Division 3 all-state team. She helped lead the Cardinals to a Rock Valley South Conference championship and a second straight sectional semifinal. Brodhead finished the season 23-2 and lost to Lodi 56-48 in overtime in a sectional semifinal.
The three unanimous Division 3 all-state selections were East Troy's Breanna Gaspervich, Neillsville's Jenny Lindner and Oostburg's Abby VanSteele.
Wellnitz, a junior who averaged 20.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, five assists and six steals per game, was named to the Division 5 all-state team. Wellnitz scored 26 points and eclipsed the 1,000 career point milestone in a 40-37 win over Monticello to reach the regional championship. The Warriors finished the season 15-10 and lost the regional title to Barneveld 55-38.
Barneveld sophomore Rachel Slaney and freshman Hannah Whitish were also named all-state. Slaney averaged 15 ppg and nine rebounds, for the state runner-up Eagles. Whitish averaged 14.6 ppg.
Baraboo senior Samantha Terry was named WBCA Miss Basketball. The 6-foot senior averaged 18 points and eight rebounds per game, leading Baraboo to a 21-4 record, a Badger North Conference championship and the Division 2 sectional semifinals.
