BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Cardinals are unbeaten in five games after withstanding a furious fourth-quarter rally by McFarland and winning 52-46 Thursday in a Rock Valley Conference crossover game.
Brodhead (5-0, 3-0 Rock Valley South) led 26-11 at halftime and increased their lead to 39-23 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Spartans matched their point total in the fourth quarter but the Cardinals prevailed behind sophomore Carly Mohns who led all scorers with 17 points. Junior Taylor Douglas added 14 points.
