MADISON - Brodhead junior Kylie Moe took home the championship of the inaugural 3-point contest at the WIAA state tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay Saturday.
Moe was one of 10 precipitants in the 3-point contest. She scored a 15 in the first-round of the contest and 14 in the semifinals. In the finals, Moe notched a 15 to capture the title.
"It's kudos to Kylie for all of the hard work she puts in during the season and in the offseason," Brodhead coach Brian Kammerer said. "She's never satisfied. She's always working to get to a higher level. For her to get on that big stage and perform like she did, it shows you a lot about who Kylie is."
The top two 3-point shooters in each division of girls basketball were selected to compete in the 3-point contest sponsored by WisSports.net.
Moe averaged 17.2 points per game this season and helped lead Brodhead to a fifth straight Rock Valley South Conference championship. Moe made 45 three-pointers and shot 39.1 percent from the 3-point line. The Cardinals won a Division 3 regional title and advanced to the sectional for the fourth straight year.
Whitewater defeated Brodhead in a sectional semifinal 60-43. Three of Brodhead's five losses this year came to teams ranked No. 1 when the Cardinals played them, including two losses to Division 3 state champion Whitewater and a loss to Division 4 state champion Cuba City.
