BRODHEAD - Senior Kylie Moe scored a game-high 22 points and made all eight of her free-throw attempts to lift the Brodhead High School girls basketball team to a 62-56 win over Walworth Big Foot Tuesday night.
Brodhead (4-0, 2-0 Rock Valley South) shot 80.9 percent from the free-throw line (17 of 21). With her performance, Moe eclipsed the 1,000 career point milestone.
Brodhead sophomore Erin Nyhus scored 13 points and was 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Brodhead junior Ali Rosheisen and senior Amber Pickel each chipped in nine points.
Big Foot's Morgan Courier scored a team-high 21 points.
Warren (Ill.) 72, Black Hawk 62
WARREN - Black Hawk senior Aleigha Sigafus scored a game-high 26 points, but the Warriors (2-1) couldn't overcome a hot start by Warren.
The game consisted of four 8-minute quarters since it was played in Illinois.
Warren jumped out to a 20-8 lead and led by 17 points at the half.
"Warren came out really hot shooting right off the bat," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "We made some bad reads on our press."
Both teams made 23 field goals and hit four 3-pointers.
The big difference came at the free throw line where Warren went 14 of 20 and the Warriors were 4 of 8. Warren made 13 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
"At the end we elected to foul them and they made free throws like good teams do to win," Flanagan said. "I give our team a lot of credit. We went down by 17 points, and we could have folded. They continued to battle."
Black Hawk cut the deficit to six points in the fourth quarter.
Black Hawk sophomore Hannah Herbst scored 12 points, and senior Abby Baumgartner chipped in nine points.
Warren sophomore Brynn Bohnsack scored 14 of her team-high 20 points in the second half. Teammate Allison Kubat also scored 20 points.
Riverdale 59, Pecatonica 23
BLANCHARDVILLE - Behind Amanda Meister and Macy Mau, Riverdale rolled over Pecatonica (0-2).
Both Meister and Mau scored a game-high 11 points to lead Riverdale, which jumped out to a 34-7 lead at the half.
Pecatonica junior Liz Tisch scored a team-high seven points to lead the Vikings. The Vikings made just 3 of 12 free throws compared to Riverdale, which was 15 of 24.
