MADISON - The new Major League Baseball (MLB) Network has been added to the Charter Communications cable television lineup.

Charter announced on Wednesday that the MLB Network would be added to the digital portion of its Expanded Basic roster on channel 84, beginning Jan. 1.

Lisa Washa, general manager and vice president of operations for Charter in Wisconsin, said access to the MLB Network has been high on its customers' priority list.

"MLB Network will be the ultimate destination for baseball fans, offering an insider's perspective on the sport that has never been seen before," said Tony Petitti, president and chief executive officer of the MLB Network. "This partnership helps us expand our reach and accomplish our goal of bringing MLB Network to as many fans as possible."

MLB Network's signature show, "MLB Tonight," will air live beginning at 5 p.m. Central until the final MLB game of the night ends on Mondays through Saturdays during the regular season. The show will feature live look-ins of games in progress, updates, highlights, reporting and analysis. During the offseason, a live, nightly studio show, "Hot Stove," will feature news, reports and analysis of the moves clubs are making and planning in preparation for the upcoming season. "Hot Stove" airs at 6 p.m. Central on Monday through Friday.

MLB Network also features a variety of original programming using the extensive footage in the MLB archives.

At least 26 regular-season games will be telecast during the season.
