MONTICELLO - Senior Ben May had a monster game scoring 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, but Monticello lost a nailbiter to Shullsburg 63-57 Tuesday.
Monticello (1-13, 0-7 Six Rivers East) led 57-53 with 2 minutes, 45 seconds to go. The Miners went on a 10-0 fourth quarter run to close out the game. Shullsburg's Joseph Meyer scored 27 points and had six rebounds to power the Miners.
Shullsburg's Noah Wand added 12 points on four 3-pointers and Brett Matye chipped in 11 points.
There were 10 ties and nine lead changes. The Ponies did not shoot a free throw in the game and the Miners were called for just three fouls.
Monticello's Zach Price added seven points, while Matt Andrews and Jake Pusel each chipped in six points. Andrews made two 3-pointers.
New Glarus 54, Belleville 42
NEW GLARUS - Junior Gavin Binger scored a game-high 22 points to propel New Glarus to a 54-42 win over Capitol South Conference rival Belleville.
New Glarus (5-9, 2-2 Capitol South) went on a 17-4 run in the second quarter to take a 10-point lead at the half. The Glarner Knights made 17 of 28 free throws compared to 20 of 30 for the Wildcats.
New Glarus junior Austin Schlueter added 12 points. Belleville's Jackson McMahan scored a team-high 16 points and Ryan Hayes added 13 points. With the loss, Belleville drops to 3-12, 2-3.
