MONROE - The Cheesemakers golf team lost a tough season-opening match to Milton Tuesday at the Monroe Country Club, 176-195.
Kyle Bruce paced Monroe with a nine-over-par 43 on the front nine. After shooting a triple-bogey on the first hole and hitting into the bunker on the Par 2 second, Bruce chipped his shot within five feet of the pin, setting up a par. On the day, Bruce, who is the lone returning Cheesemaker, had four pars.
Jessy Stagliano shot a 48 for Monroe, Lucas Jordan had a 49 and Josh Mayer carded a 55 from the fifth-spot. Dylan Wilde also shot a 56 for the varsity.
Milton's Tyler Chase and Max Helbing each shot 43.
