CAMBRIDGE - The Monroe soccer team ran to a 0-0 tie with Cambridge-Deerfield Monday.
"It was a very exciting game," Monroe head coach Miriam O'Neill said. "It was a very physical game. I saw some very effective rotations."
With a young team and little depth, O'Neill said the team is trying to find ways to mesh together. Despite coming away without a win, she thought the team showed her great things.
"Each individual really played well. What we need to do now is make those combinations more effective," O'Neill said.
Monroe goaltender Gail LaVoie had four saves in goal, while the Cheesemakers were shut out on 16 shots.
"We dominated the second half and had some very well organized attacks. I was pleased with what I saw. These were two well matched teams," O'Neill said.
The junior varsity teams also finished in a 0-0 tie.
The Cheesemakers host Sugar River Thursday.
