MADISON - Monroe's No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Hermanson and Kelsey Erickson made it to the third round of the WIAA Division 1 state doubles tournament Friday, only to fall 7-5, 6-4, to Brookfield East's Sophie Carr and Katelyn Kotek. The pair was just three rounds from Saturday's state championship at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Cheesemakers knocked off Waukesha South's Karlie Laveau and Erica Van Riper Friday morning, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The afternoon match against Carr and Kotek was not as kind to Monroe's top duo.

Hermanson and Erickson finish the season with a 26-3 overall record. They won their first match Thursday, against Madison West's Sarah Kuhn and Lauren Rosenstock, 1-6, 6-3 (10-5).
