MONROE - Monona Grove's Joe Hofbauer scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute off a rebound to knock off the Cheesemakers 2-1 at Honey Creek Park on Tuesday.
Monroe freshman Kevin Noriega scored a game-tying goal on an assist from Corey Flannery at 51:33.
"We had a really good game," Monroe coach Tony Stamm said. "I think what we have been improving on showed up in this game."
Stamm said the Cheesemakers have to work at playing against the type of counter attacks that the Vikings were using in the center.
"Hopefully, we can get that situation take caren of," Stamm said.
With the loss, Monroe drops to 6-4-5. Monroe will play at the Sugar River tournament on Saturday.
