MONROE - McFarland skated to an 11-0 win over the Monroe Avalanche Tuesday at SLICE.
McFarland's Dietrick Schwoerer scored three goals for the hat trick to lead the Spartans. McFarland's James Luessman and William Kemnitz each added two goals.
"It was a tough loss, but some good things that did come out the game are we played a very good penalty kill tonight," Monroe coach Josh Smith said. "It was nice to see that progress."
The Spartans outshot the Avalanche 61-13. Monroe goaltender Dan Guilliams had 50 saves. With the loss, Monroe drops to 1-15, 0-6 Badger South.
"Danny Guilliams had some very nice breakaway saves tonight," Smith said.
Monroe will host Madison Edgewood (12-6-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at SLICE.
"It will be nice to measure how far we have come," Smith said.
