MCFARLAND - The Cheesemakers continued to roll, topping former Badger South foe McFarland 6-1 on the courts Thursday afternoon.
Lauri Juonela won again in the No. 1 singles spot, 6-3, 6-3. Carson Root needed three games to win No. 2 singles 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Matt Le swept his Spartans opponent, 6-1, 6-3, in the third singles match, and Eric Knudtson won 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.
Monroe struggled in the doubles matches. Artem Beer and Jim Kundert lost for the first time this year at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6.
"We had two very close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles," coach Jim Bartholf said.
Pat Gellings and Garrett Tschanz remained unbeaten at No. 2 doubles, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Mark Hoesly and Dan Becker won their match without difficulty, 6-0, 6-0.
"It was a good match win over McFarland," Bartholf said.
Monroe (6-0) plays its first conference match of the season Friday at Milton.
The Monroe junior-varsity team tied 7-7 Thursday.
