MONROE - The Green County Family YMCA Mat Rats hosted 259 wrestlers from 34 different teams at their annual K-8 Youth Wrestling Tournament Sunday.
The YMCA Mat Rats took home the second-place team trophy with 47 Mat Rats competing in the tournament.
In their respective brackets: Placing first were Kraig Walter, Owen Voegeli, Jack Dubach, Wyatt Brown, Max Patterson and Patrick Rielly. Finishing second were Grant Ula, Molly Patterson, Hamilton Stites, Cole Meighan, Payton Weckerly, Caleb Smith, Jonquel Wright, Christian Schuh, Jacob Walker, Lukas Andersen, Colten Beckman and Jacob Amacher.
Taking third were Lilly Andersen, Noah Schuh, Gage Jelle, Wyatt Weckerly, Lukas Gerber, Shane Ziolkowski, Joseph Rufenacht, Roderick Rath, Lane Meier, Drake Kammerude, Brady Schuh, Kyle Marty, Spencer Brunton, Keon Butler, Timmy Andersen and Brandon Anderson. Placing fourth were Waylan Andersen, Caston Goecks, Ryder Buxton, Joah Wellman, Joshua Pink, Xavier Hirsch, Garrett Minder, Davis Hudson, Garret Voegeli, Jace Amacher, Quinton Carlson, Eli Kister and Cole Lincicum.
The YMCA Mat Rats also raised more than 40 pounds of non-perishable food items for the Green County Food Pantry at the tournament on Sunday. Items were donated from spectators in place of their admission fee.
